In Memory of a Friend: Killed Memorial Day 2004

LESLIE PAIGE MAYNER.I.P.NOV 20, 1985- MAY 31, 2004WE MISS YOU.
Please dont drink and drive
Leslie was my best friend when we were younger. Her and I grew up together. From ages 3 to all the way through high school when we got in our mid teens we broke apart and went our seperate ways, But I knew deep in my heart she was still my friend. We graduated High School May 21 of 2004. She was killed in a car accident and the driver of the car who hit her was drunk. Not only did the driver kill one of my best friends, but left Leslie's fiancee "Bubba" Paralized. I miss Leslie each and everyday, And I know her family misses her and her friends too. So, please think before you act, before getting behind the wheel after you have had a drink please think about Leslie and all the others who have been killed. Please Think before you act. You never know what is going to happen if you are drunk. If you plan on drinking, Please have a designated driver take you home or get your parents to pick you up. Dont let someone end up like my best friend. Please

This is from The South Carolina Highway Patrol's Memorial Website, This was written by Leslie's Family.
Leslie was an 18-year old student who had just graduated with honors from West Florence High School 10 days before this accident. She was to begin classes at Francis Marion University in the Fall. Her goal was to become a Certified Public Accountant.
Monday, May 31, 2004 -- Memorial Day -- was the first day Leslie and her boyfriend had off from both work and schoool together in quite some time. It was going to be a special day for them -- spending some time swimming at Lynches River Park. At about 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon, within about one mile of the park, this fatal collision occurred.
We are so proud of the way in which Leslie lived her life, which was too short. We admire her many wonderful qualities. We truly are in awe of her generosity toward others. Leslie found the good in everyone. She brightened their days and made it impossible not to smile around her -- even when things had them down.
Leslie loved setting goals for herself and we loved listening to all she wanted to accomplish. She looked forward to a career, marriage and a family. It devastates us never to be able to see her enjoy the future she prepared so well for. Within a matter of seconds, Leslie's life was over. She never got the chance to live the productive life she worked so hard to achieve.
We cannot tell you how much joy has been taken from our lives. We don't go a day wihtout thinking about Leslie, without missing her. Our hearts are broken.
We -- her mother, father and brother -- will miss Leslie's company, her smile and her love for the rest of our lives. We are grateful for the 18 wonderful years we had together.
Leslie, you will always be loved and never forgotten
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I dearly miss Leslie, We grew up together. I still dream about her sometimes. I dream that she is still alive...although I know she's not.
I just wanted to take a few minutes and make a bulletin of her. Life is soo precious, Why do people have to take it away by driving drunk? The woman who killed my friend obviously didnt care about her life or Leslie's life. But Leslie's friends and Family thinks of her each and every day.
Please take a minute and think of the ones you lost and think of the ones others in the community have lost.

"Accused peeping tom faces another charge"

Published: May 16, 2008
Police say a Florence man they arrested May 9 for peeping into women’s windows and calling others on the phone to threaten them with sexual acts now faces addition charges because he used the jail’s phone to continue to harass one of his victims, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.
Antonio Revon King, 35, of 1549 N. Sierra Range is charged with breaking into a motor vehicle, Raines said.
Police say the suspect used a rock to break into someone’s vehicle on Irby Street on May 9 and took documents with the victim’s phone number written on them. While behind bars, the suspect used the number to repeatedly call the victim, Raines said.
King remains in custody at the Florence County Detention Center in Effingham. Bond information wasn’t available by press time Friday

Okay...This one...I just had to laugh at for some reason.. Although its no laughing matter. The story and some comments from people in the community

"Gang-related fight breaks out in Florence Wal-Mart"

Published: May 11, 2008
A gang-related fight Friday night at the Super Wal-Mart on South Irby Street in Florence ended with one adult and one juvenile being arrested. According to Lt. Brett Camp with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, a group of 30-40 individuals were involved in an altercation that began inside the store and overflowed into the parking lot. There were initial calls of shots fired, but Camp said that was not confirmed. “We never confirmed shots fired,” he said. “If there were shots fired, they were in the air. No one was shot at.” Camp said because of the way the area is zoned, both the sheriff’s office and the Florence City Police Department had to respond to the incident. The sheriff’s office responded because the Wal-Mart parking lot is zoned in the county, and the actual building itself is zoned in the city. The names of the individuals that the police department arrested couldn’t be confirmed by press time Sunday.

I was born and raised in the Pee dee area, Hartsville to be exact. The Carolinas are beautiful, but like the rest of the world and country are experiencing moral decline. You can’t prevent children getting involved in Gangs, when they have a single mother at home, on welfare and 2-3 half-siblings. Their “parent” can’t keep up with themselves, much less monitor the activity of a pre-teen to teen. Consequently, these young people are looking for somewhere to fit in, and make some money, and a gang provides both. We collectively need to return to Bible based teaching for our children, the further we desire to shut God out, and call “any and everything right”, the more get get what we ask for. Gang violence, drug proliferation, sexual promiscuity, pornography, pedophilia and every daggum thing else. We must have relationship with the living God!And pass that legacy on to our children as my mother did with me. Am I perfect? Hecks no! but I do love the Lord, my wife and children, and it wasn’t long ago that I was one of these young people living in and around the Pee Dee trying to fit-in. And many times, when tepted to get involved with wrongdoing, it was the power of the Lord, through the prayers of my mother that kept me out of trouble, and that’s real!

^^^THIS GUY PISSES ME OFF, I HATE LIVING IN THE BIBLE BELT...DAMN FUCKING JUDGEMENTAL PEOPLE...Im going to go piss on the bible..^^^

the reason kids are doing this is because parents are not teaching there kids. wake the hell up.stop crying and pointing fingers. this is what happens when you give your kids a time out instead of a good spanking. it worked for many years and now people think it needs to be changed. if it aint broke, dont fix it.

As for the “after” mentioned comments, we do have a good city to retire in. We truly do. Gangs have been going on up North and other places for years before they arrived here. Nonetheless, I am willing to get out and work with these young people, I am willing to have places to go for these young people. But, a LOT of this behavior or I should say the halt of this behavior starts in the home.....is that not true? or do I live with blinders on:? WE, WHO HAVE CHILDREN, need to be concerned and aware of who and when and where our kids ARE.....
I Realize that sometimes you can do ALL you can do and you still end up with a bad seed. BUT, the world today is rampant with parents doing drugs, having kids they KNOW they cannot care for (before they even give birth) and parents who do not keep God in the home.
I’m sorry if I step on anyones toes, I believe I covered all bases, so if you did all you could do, then it is NOT your fault. If you feel a twinge of animosity, then there must be a problem. Plain and simple........

Another thing, I was planning on hosting our family reunion in Florence, too dangerous to even consider it, stop the violence and do something positive. Shame on all involved.

Wow! I am beginning to believe i have made the worst mistake of my life choosing Florence as the place to retire. This is just horrible for the whole community. There should be measures taken so something of this magnitude never happens again. Shame on you whoever was part of this blight on the community. If you want to fight join the armed services and go to Iraq, and help bring our guys home. Shame on everyone involved. What a great welcome to the city of Florence

It is a shame that so many of our young people are taking this path in their lives. This my friend are the caregivers of our future. We have been lucky to have not seen this type of behavior in the past in this area before now. These young people need guidance and control in their lives and it has been taken away in the homes, schools and society in general. We need more activities for these young people that are accessible to all races, gender, and ages to keep them off the “streets” and vying for attention with only their peers to access knowledge and support from. Stronger parenting, spiritual needs and give the school administration back there right to recieve respect.

I think that if you get caught and you are apart of a gang, trying shoot innocetn people. I thing military recruiters should pick their butts up and ship them to Iraq in the mist of all the fighting and let them fight and shoot and see if they survive. Drop them hudlums straight out a plan. No food, no clothes.. nothing!

How can 30 to 40 people be involved in such behavior and only 2 arrested? The next incident may not be injury free. There will be a next time at Walmart or one of the malls.

First Day back Full Time at Work

Its Really wasnt as bad as I thought it would be...but It was rather bad...I did 43 condo policies today..out of the 52 items I processed.

So what do I do at work? I process Hazard Insurance for Wells Fargo.
Hazard Insurance-- Fire, Flood, and Wind Policies...

I do mostly Non-Escrow Policies..that means...the insured pays for their insurance
Escrow--The Lien Holder (that would be Wells Fargo in my case) would pay for the insurance.

Here's a wonderful fun note:
If you dont want to do a job you hate, You better stay in school.

I literally HATE my job.
But of Course...I was the most brightest teenager in the US..when I decided..."hey lets drop out of college!!!" Not only once....but twice.

Q. Whats your favorite Movie?
A. Singing in the Rain, well actually, anything that is a musical.
